Sometimes it’s tough to hold on to our confidence in God’s plan for our lives. Maybe that’s just me?
When you feel you aren’t succeeding
When you hit a rough spot in your marriage
When you have struggles at work
When you or your family are in poor health
When business is slow
When the bills pile up
When you feel stagnant
It takes real endurance to do the will of God–at least to do what you hope and have prayed with all your heart and think is His will. We don’t finally figure out what God wants us to do with our lives and then sit back and watch Him put everything in place for us while we sit back comfortably with a glass of lemonade and enjoy the show.
I suppose sometimes he might decide to work like that. 🙂 And at least in my life and the lives of many faithful people I know, He likes to break out some razzle-dazzle moments of affirmation every once in a while. 🙂
When I feel discouraged, it has helped me so much to remember and pray with Jesus’ words in the Garden of Gethsemane: “Father, take this cup from me! But I want your will to be done, not mine” (Luke 22:42). Jesus asked for relief, but was ready at the same time to carry his cross.
So, sweet friends and readers, “do not throw away your confidence; it will be richly rewarded. You need to persevere so that when you have done the will of God, you will receive what he has promised.” ~Hebrews 10:35
