David and Kate Dawson have been good friends of mine for years. My husband Michael and I met them at camp the same summer that we met one another, and the rest is history. Eight children and many job changes and family moves between us later, our two families finally live in the same state. (And within about an hour of one another. Close enough.:)
David is the Director of the Family Life Apostolate for the Archdiocese of New Orleans. Kate stays home full-time with their five children (two of whom she homeschools), and she also blogs at Day to Day Dawsons.
The Dawsons are the national couple for Domestic Church in the United States. Through their involvement with Domestic Church and through teaching an excellent couple prayer series, the Dawsons’ deeply-lived experience with couple prayer makes this episode as inspiring as it is down-to-earth and practical. Kate and David really have an endearing dynamic that makes them relatable and entertaining. I’ll bet that just a few minutes into the episode, you’ll see what I mean. 🙂
In the episode, we cover all aspects of getting started with praying as a married couple. The Dawsons and I also share some of our own stories about what daily couple prayer has done for our marriages.
- Common obstacles
- The fruits of couple prayer in your marriage
- Couple prayer’s relationship to emotional, spiritual and physical intimacy
- Tips on how to get started praying together as a couple
- What to do when one spouse feel uncomfortable with spontaneous prayer (or praying at all)
