I mentioned in my last post that I recently started co-hosting a Catholic women’s radio show, but I thought that I should have some kind of official post to announce it. π
What: Faith and Good Counsel
Who: Staci Gulino, Dr. Mary Wallace, and Yours Truly
Where: Baton Rouge Catholic Radio
1380AM in Baton Rouge or listen online at www.brcatholicradio.com
When: Tuesday afternoons from 4-5pm
The show is certainly geared more toward women, but is not a “women’s show,” per se. Staci, Mary and I are all about ten years or so apart in age, and we talk from each of our points of view and experience about living an authentic, real, doing-it-God’s-way Catholic life.
We want to make sure, as Staci says all the time, that we “keep things real,” and most importantly, practical. Talking about beautiful theological ideas and ideals is great, but we are interested in talking to each other and our listeners about how to create and live out a foundation of faith in our everyday lives. We have some great segments and fantastic guests planned so far. Definitely check out the show one week–and feel free to leave me a comment below or shoot me an email (humblehandmaid_at_gmail_dot_com) and let me know what you think!
I am only joining Staci and Mary roughly once per month, and maybe more often depending on the topic. I’m thankful that they and the station managers have been so amenable to me hosting just monthly right now!
You’re probably wondering how I can co-host a one-hour radio show that is based in a studio 230 miles away from my house. The short answer is that I have a wildly supportive husband, a laptop, some good borrowed sound equipment, and a neat little program called Skype. π
Michael tells me that I always downplay myself too much to people when I talk about my blog and now this radio show. He’s just a proud hubby.:) But really, really, really, ya’ll…I’m not the most outgoing person on the block. Or in just about any room. I am almost the last person I would think of to co-host a radio show. But–maybe just a little tiny bit like Moses–God seems to be calling me first with my blog and now to radio to a ministry of sharing my faith with others.
God works in mysterious ways. Mysterious and always, always surprising ways, at least for me!
May all the glory be to God for the “success” I have had and ever will have with Humble Handmaid and now Faith and Good Counsel. Truly, truly, all my written or spoken words that are any “good” at all are from Him and for Him.
