I have decided to start a new feature on Humble Handmaid: “My Scripture of the Day.”

God has really put it on my heart this year to do daily meditation on Scripture, including readings and reflections on the spiritual writings of the saints and modern Catholic writers and novelists. And I’ve been feeling that He wants me to post those Scriptures on my blog for all of you.

So….

As I am able, I will post passages and verses that God touches and teaches my heart with each day. I’ll post reflections as I have time and energy to write them.

Merry Christmas to all of my wonderful family, friends and blog readers. I hope God blessed your family abundantly, and touched your souls and spirits with His truth and love through this season!

Love,

Erin

(The Gospel reading for today)

Brothers and sisters:
Put on, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved,
heartfelt compassion, kindness, humility, gentleness, and patience,
bearing with one another and forgiving one another,
if one has a grievance against another;
as the Lord has forgiven you, so must you also do.
And over all these put on love,
that is, the bond of perfection.
And let the peace of Christ control your hearts,
the peace into which you were also called in one body.
And be thankful.
Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly,
as in all wisdom you teach and admonish one another,
singing psalms, hymns, and spiritual songs
with gratitude in your hearts to God.
And whatever you do, in word or in deed,
do everything in the name of the Lord Jesus,
giving thanks to God the Father through him.

–Colossians 3:12-21

Hi there!

I'm a south Louisiana girl, Catholic wife, writer, speaker, and mother of six. Since I started my blog way back in 2009, life has been a roller coaster of babies, plot twists and a plane crash or two. I've been chronicling things here as I've been learning to love and suffer and laugh and trust in the goodness of God in the ordinary and the extraordinary--with a little espresso and a lot of Divine Mercy.
