Gabriel slept in until almost 8 a.m. this morning! What a blessing! Michael had his monthly men’s prayer group at 8am, so when we heard Gabriel’s baby talk drift down the hallway, Michael jumped out of bed like a fish and threw on some clothes to head over there. At least the group meets at a house in our neighborhood!
Gabriel and I had a nice morning. I fought nausea for a few minutes, but didn’t give in! I ended up getting LOTS of housework done (sweep and mop kitchen, run laundry, clean up my room and bathroom, clean the kitchen well, handwash the pile of “nice” clothes that have been hiding behind the laundry hamper). It feels so wonderful to have a nice, picked up house! Except for the toys all over the living room, of course.
Michael and I are also working on our taxes this afternoon–ugh! At least it’s a blessing to get a little tax return in the mail this spring!
We are getting a New to Us play set for Gabriel this weekend! A friend from my church who also reads my blog AND lives in my neighbhorhood has a great Little Tikes (sp?) jungle gym that her kids have outgrown. We went over on Thursday night to see it, and I know Gabriel will love it!
Interestingly enough, an old friend I grew up with emailed me after my most recent blog post to voice her honest concerns about the safety of our play set. She is now a certified playground safety inspector as part of her job, and she told me she felt like she was supposed to tell me about a few concerns she had from seeing pictures of my play set and reading my writing about it. (Granted, the thing has made it through THREE major hurricanes since it was put up, though! 🙂
Anyway, I feel I need to take my friend seriously, and so we will be taking the play set down eventually. We’ll need room for the one Michael wants to build us anyway :). In the meantime, Gabriel will have an adorable, age-appropriate little play set just his size to play on. Thank you Shelly! 🙂
This afternoon, I am headed to the grocery store for my very first shopping trip using coupons and What’s On Sale meal planning. Not that I haven’t given half-hearted attempts to these kinds of frugal shopping endeavors before, but I’ve been feeling really called just this past week to start saving money on groceries. I could be saving my family so much money by using coupons and printable deals from sites like SouthernSavers and RetailMeNot.
I’ll let you know how things go today and how much money I save!
Tomorrow will be busy for us as well. I am giving a talk at a Pure Fashion event in northwest Houston at 1:15, and then I have mass and a Life Night to work tomorrow night. I will sleep well tomorrow night for sure. For SURE. 🙂
One day at a time sister… you're not alone in the queasy stomach department.
