2011 28 Mar
On Saturday, I headed to St. Francisville, Louisiana with my mom, my sister Rivers, my aunt Berta, and Gabriel to tour some old plantations and go antique shopping. We went to Afton Villa Gardens and to Butler-Greenwood Plantation, and had lunch at the delicious Magnolia Cafe (best fried crawfish poboy I’ve ever had!). Then we went antiquing for a bit. Gabriel got an Easter Bunny stuffed animal, and his mama got some antique sunflower earrings. πŸ™‚
We had a lovely day! Such a sweet memory already…
The best part?
The azaleas were in bloom. March is the St. Francisville area is beyond gorgeous.

And now some pictures with people in them πŸ™‚

Yours truly, my cute momma, and Riv

How do they keep this labyrinth so perfect? And make those camellias bloom at the same time as the azaleas?

Wish I would have had a hat for this picture. This baby was darn cute on Saturday!

Doesn’t he look remotely like a Baby Real Southern Gentleman? (Sure hope so, I’m working on the gentleman part)

Gabriel and Lulu

For some reason, I left the hat and shoes and sunscreen I had packed for him in the van, so he borrowed his Great Aunt Berta’s hat and went authentic po’ southern boy shoeless. And was probably  happier for it.

After Villa Gardens has a mile-long oak tree, dogwood and azalea bush-lined driveway. What a beautiful walk it was…just like a scene out of a movie.

The other little boy in the picture is Wyatt, Gabriel’s 2nd cousin. The boys are just three weeks apart (Gabe is older). Wyatt is my cousin Daniel’s little boy, and he is a calm, sweetheart of a little boy. His momma, my cousin-in-law Lynsey, is a darling. I loved that we were able to meet up with them for lunch at the Magnolia Cafe yesterday! We don’t get to see them a lot. The absolutely adorable older couple in the background were waiting for a table on the bench behind the boys, and Gabriel was totally hamming it up for them.
I think this picture also catches Gabriel with his Poo Face though. Around this time he started working out a Major Stinky…

Wyatt and Gabriel posing with the LSU spotted pig outside the Magnolia Cafe. I couldn’t pass up the photo opp.

Gorgeous! What a blessing! I'm still seeing snow outside of my window here. lol. I guess Spring is late along with Easter here. I'll be that much more delighted to see the blooms when they come. πŸ™‚

Hi there!

I'm a south Louisiana girl, Catholic wife, writer, speaker, and mother of six. Since I started my blog way back in 2009, life has been a roller coaster of babies, plot twists and a plane crash or two. I've been chronicling things here as I've been learning to love and suffer and laugh and trust in the goodness of God in the ordinary and the extraordinary--with a little espresso and a lot of Divine Mercy.
