This week, we had a couple of friends over for dinner on Tuesday night. I made homemade chicken pesto pasta, tomato-basil soup and sensation salad. Everything was delicious, but sure took a while to cook. At least I love being in my kitchen these days πŸ™‚

On Thursday night, we had our weekly Family Dinner at the Coles’ house, which was a particularly fun event this week. Aside from the great company and delicious spread of potluck items, later in the evening somebody came up with the idea to give the ladies some facials. My friends Lucy and Courtney joined me in having our faces covered with mud masks by our cute husbands as we lay on the couches. I think the last time I did a “facial” like that was when I was still using Noxema in high school.

I am always inspired and amazed by Matt and Lucy Coles, the couple who have been hosting Family Dinner at their home every week for about 14 months now.  They are the most humble, quiet, generous family you’ve ever met. They have been through–and are currently going through–trials that would shake anyone’s faith to the core. They have been an inspiration to Michael and I on so many things; Lucy is also Gabriel’s godmother.

Here’s a small taste of their story I found the other day. After reading it, you might like to know that they now have two gorgeous, sweet little boys, John-Matthew and Pio, and they have another little boy on the way.

Please pray for this little family.

Hi there!

I'm a south Louisiana girl, Catholic wife, writer, speaker, and mother of six. Since I started my blog way back in 2009, life has been a roller coaster of babies, plot twists and a plane crash or two. I've been chronicling things here as I've been learning to love and suffer and laugh and trust in the goodness of God in the ordinary and the extraordinary--with a little espresso and a lot of Divine Mercy.
