Michael and I went to an early mass today and spent the rest of the day working in the front yard together.

I am pretty pleased with the results if I do say so myself! I think it looks like we had Professionals come out. You know, one of the Professionals who leave business cards and flyers for their lawn service taped to my front door every couple of days or so–no exaggeration.

Really, we just weeded the heck out of everything, pulled up all of the awful monkey grass mess, and put in some mulch. Our front yard has come a long way since we first bought our house. We took our little “before” pictures too late in our work today, too. Things looked a lot worse before we took them!

We dug up the roots of all the bushes around our crape myrtle…
The front flower bed was looking REALLY scruffy. This doesn’t do it justice. This picture was taken AFTER Michael dug up all of the weeds and monkey grass that had grown up through all of the bushes and was intruding onto the grass.
The yard doesn’t look SO awful in this picture :), and it really wasn’t horrific, but it’s the only before picture we have.
The finished product!
Another view, with the obligatory shot of the Franco Swagger Wagon in the background 🙂
This flower bed was “my baby”–I weeded it, spread the mulch, and re-did all of the rock border myself!

Hi there!

I'm a south Louisiana girl, Catholic wife, writer, speaker, and mother of six. Since I started my blog way back in 2009, life has been a roller coaster of babies, plot twists and a plane crash or two. I've been chronicling things here as I've been learning to love and suffer and laugh and trust in the goodness of God in the ordinary and the extraordinary--with a little espresso and a lot of Divine Mercy.
